Whether you need to learn how to navigate the rental process or create a strategy to overcome barriers to affordable housing there is a tool to help.

In a joint effort between the Self-Determination Housing Project of Pennsylvania and The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, The Prepared Renter Program  "PREP"  was created in 2006.

PREP was designed to be a tool to help people more effectively obtain affordable, accessible housing. PREP has grown to to include information about dealing with problems once you become a renter and also works to help participants avoid common pitfalls that can lead to eviction. 

PREP trainings are provided by the Regional Housing Coordinators to any group or agency that serves people with disabilities or older Pennsylvanians. The program is provided in a "train the trainer" format.  The RHC of that region will come in and train key staff in how to conduct PREP for their consumers.
